1. In todays society technology is so important in the classroom. I feel as though it is a big reason for the success in my lesson and so many others in the classroom. It helps students stay engaged and their are so many different resources out there that could contribute to more success.
2. With the sing along videos on YouTube it gives the students a way to learn the material and have something to recall in order to remember the information. It gives them a different way of learning the material as well as keeping them more engaged and interested.
3. My strategies included modeling how to physically sound out syllables as well as having physically interaction with the kids on the smart board game. The video was also good for repetition which is so important with younger grades.
4. Students should have prior knowledge on counting syllables so it should be a review. Of course all students come from different backgrounds so not all students will be at the same level or have the same knowledge. By showing the video and giving them a fun way to learn it should motivated them more.
5. With the use of the Smart Board game as well as the video it gives the students a way to sort of memorize with the hand movements and singing at the same time. With the game it gives me a way to check for understand right there and adjust accordingly.
6. Classroom management would be a must during this lesson. I would need to set my expectations at the beginning of class so that the students know what level our voices needed to be at during the video as well as when we are playing the game.
7. With me demonstrating the hand movements as well as giving the oral instruction it helps stray away from the "traditional way of teaching." This gives me a way to teach in a "fun" way to achieve the objective we are doing.
8. Without technology, we wouldn't be able to do fun activities like the YouTube video and interactive game on the smart board. Students would be less engaged and instruction would be very boring and not as successful.
You had done an awesome job for this teaching unit! I really enjoyed it!
